Europe Day 5: Mother of Gardens!

Last day in Florence! :( Too much sadness when I realize that I will be leaving my beloved Europe in three days. But might as well make the most of it! We had breakfast... blah blah blah.. the same as yesterday! But early in the morning we made our way to the Pitti Palace, which is the New Medici palace. On the outside it looks extremely boring and uninteresting. It is only interesting when you go inside and to the garden. The gardens.... holy mother of gardens... this garden is huge and BEAUTIFUL! The Medici family definitely had a taste of finer things.
Photo Blocking!

....BEAUTIFUL!...

It is huge!!

Another amazing view!

Florence is so pretty!

Again another view!

Beautiful people!

Looking out on the countryside!

Can I just live here?

That house is the porcelain museum for the Medici family

Garden is not complete without a face!

And I'm walking...

Seats in a garden... why not!?

Inside the bath house!
After the Pitti Palace we wandered around to the huge Duomo, that is usually the center of attention for the tourists. It was a crowded plaza with thousands and thousands of tourists. This Duomo in real life is amazing to look at. It is gigantic and the design is just..... indescribable. Just look at all the pictures! We also got to go inside the Duomo.

Duomo Plaza!

So fancy!

Look the door of gold!
These golden door aren't the real ones these are the replicas since I guess they didn't want people running off with it. But I can't imagine that it is easy to take that door.... it looks mighty heavy.

Inside the Duomo!

Beautiful architecture!

It is just a little bit big...
The Dumo was amazing to look at but after awhile I got tired of the crowd. We decided to wonder the side streets of Florence and get the real culture. We found a lot of shops that were selling all sorts of things. We found one violin shop and the person was sitting in the window creating a violin. It was incredible! There were shops with all fresh food and (my favorite) macaroon shops!

Macaroon TOWER!

Fresh berries!
We eventually made our way to the Old Medici Palace and had a look inside. The Pitti Palace is much bigger but the Old Palace was much more decorated. The decor was just like how it was in the renaissance time period and you can really tell that the Medici family liked the arts.

Florence! The beautiful world!

More rooftops!

Latin... oh how I love you..

Cool artistic photo!

My feet were tired...

The David... well the backside of him...
We actually saw the real David the next day in the museum where he resides. This one in front of the Old Palace is the replica.
We had reservations at a fancy restaurant, which we had to arrive exactly on time or else they would give up our reservations. It was one of the most popular restaurants in Florence but I seem to have forgotten the name. And of course, I had the ravioli... No judging. :)
Waiting for the restaurant to open!
This is the name of the restaurant!

Us young ladies!

Cold tomato soup! yumm!

And now for the delicious part! Ravioli!
After the fantastic dinner, we, of course, went out for some gelato! This was our last full day in Florence and we had to go out with a BANG! Which means.. gelato!
Now for some gelato!

Last picture before we head off to bed!
We went to bed right after this. The next day was sort of busy so no pictures. That was the day we went to a few museums, one which had the David and other Michelangelo works, and did all we could do before our afternoon train back to Zurich. We got into Zurich really late and fell straight to sleep. So technically the next blog post will be for day seven! Almost done with the Europe trip (that happened in July...)!

Europe Day 4: In the Florence Paradise

Waking up in Florence, Italy is extremely easy since the busy city is much alive in the morning. We had breakfast in a very pretty building (since I'm writing this a few months later I don't know the name) and just had a pastry and some cafe latte. In Europe, I did decide to class it up a bit with my clothing so I was wearing a dress I got from a shop called Blue Sand in Milan.
Early Breakfast

Cute little dress!
This red dress is so comfy and so nice in the hot Florence weather. Dresses in Italy are the best to wear since it is burning hot in July. Also as you can see I have my fancy Florence Red Pass on me (the official tourist flag) and it is so flattering for this outfit.... hint of sarcasm...
We were done with breakfast and went to a small mansion from back in the Medici time period (it is the house behind me in the above picture). This house was three stories and had amazing decor. The walls had intricate paintings and very renaissance like.
Huge room inside!

The bathrooms on the other hand... well there was a hole... and not much else...
After the mansion we strolled out into the Florence air and ran into very cute markets full with all sorts of items.
Colorful!!
Then we went to a Galileo museum (I can't believe how much that man thought of things). It was pack full of random objects that were super interesting.
Spherical Device!

Most of the day we did walk around a lot, have some gelato here and there, and stroll around the plazas. Now here is a ton of pictures of the rest of our day!!

Now we feast!!
The dinner was at a lovely little restaurant in front of the Pitti Palace (New Medici castle) and they had some perfectly cooked ravioli. It was a wine restaurant so we had a lot of wine with our dinner but the best part was the food. At this place I stuffed my face with all of the pasta. We stayed at this restaurant until very late in the night (I think we stayed for about 4 hours!). After this fantastic feast we all retired to our rooms to a much needed sleep. Day five coming soon!!
