We woke up at about 6 a.m. since we still aren't used to the time zone. We were wide awake and ready to see more of Milan. After a small breakfast consisting of a cafe latte, meats, and cheeses (this is what Italian breakfast's usually are) we headed off on the adventure. The train left for Florence at about 1 pm so we still had enough time to see the sites. First we wanted to see the inside of Milan Duomo but at the time I didn't realize that they would not let me in because of what I was wearing.

Yes... my socks don't match.. :) |
I was just wearing short shorts and a tank but they do not allow girls to wear short shorts or skirts also the tank top was not allowed.
 |
They didn't allow much... |
I respected what they said and walked away without seeing the inside of the cathedral but I was bummed out a little. As we were walking around we found other interesting buildings and we also found shops. I have never actually shopped in Europe because it all seemed really expensive but we found some stores that were very reasonably priced. So I bought a couple of things and also got an outfit change.

Outside one of the shops! |

Aren't we purrtty?! |
After all that shopping and excitement we finally got to go inside the Duomo and see the magnificent features it has inside. We weren't allowed to take pictures but I just have to say it is amazing on the inside. This whole structure took about 500 years to build!
When we got outside of the cathedral it was around the time we had to go to the train station to go to Florence! It was about a three hour train ride and while on there we had fun snacking and sleeping.

Yummy snacks! |
The train went about 300 km/hr which is really really fast. We finally arrived in Florence and I have to say it is gorgeous! Small shops crammed onto small streets where cars zoom by really fast. Our hotel was right by a Prada store and another famous designer brand (lets just say we never set foot in those expensive stores). It was crazy to see how many famous designer stores are in Florence but Italy is the country of fashion right? (Personally I thought it was food...) Florence is a busy place and very crowded in July.

Busy Busy Busy! |

Beautiful city |
Once we got there, we put our stuff in our hotel rooms and went out to enjoy the sights. It was about afternoon so we got gelato (We ate so much gelato on this trip).
 |
Huge gelato! |
Then we started to walk around and met up with my grandpa's friends, who are so friendly and lovely.

Lovelies in Florence |
They knew their way through Florence and had our dinner reservations set up for us. After it grew dark and we were tired from walking around, we went to dinner at Giovanni, very delicious restaurant. I had a mushroom ravioli, which was to die for. The pasta was perfectly rolled out and melted in my mouth. The rest of the people at my table had famous beef that the restaurant is known for. I didn't try any but from the looks I got, I'm assuming it was delicious as well.

This restaurant needs to come to Idaho to make me happy... And after the meal we took a stroll slowly back to our hotel and of course my mother took lots of pictures. They turned out wonderful and Florence is amazing at night.

One of many pictures |
We finally got back to our hotel. We were all exhausted and slept very well. Onward to the next day!
